Mikkala has an innate love for animals. Her passion for animals was fostered throughout her childhood, being the daughter of our own Dr. Mike Perchetti, as well as growing up on their family ranch and being heavily involved in wildlife conservation. Mikkala received her bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences in 2023 from Idaho State University. She will be attending Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in the fall of 2024 with the goal of earning her D.V.M.
Mikkala has worked at Elko Veterinary Clinic for the last 4 summers and plans to continue to do so if her education allows her to do so. She is most interested in emergency/trauma care, as well as patient-centered care. Mikkala is passionate about strengthening the human–animal bond and being a voice for our loving companions. Her advice to owners is to socialize your pet as much as possible so both you and your pet can have a more positive experience around new animals, people, and places.
Outside of work, Mikkala enjoys spending time with her family, exercising, hiking, hunting with her bird dog, fishing, and horseback riding in the mountains.
